Towels are bulky and hard to hoop. For this reason we will be using a sticky stabilizer in the embroidery frame. Floriani Perfect Stick is a special pressure sensitive tearaway stabilizer that is designed to be needle friendly and will tear away from delicate stitching easily. This stabilizer will hold our towel in place while we stitch. Towels also have a high pile or nap to them. To keep our stitches looking their best we will use a topping on the surface of the towel to keep the nap down while our stitches form properly. Two types of topping are included in this kit: Heat N Gone and Water Soluble Topping. Use Heat N Gone for designs that are not as dense as you would like or if you are giving a gift and won’t have time to launder the towel. Use Water Soluble Topping for dense embroideries.
**Don’t forget to pick up your favorite colors of Floriani thread for your towel project! Remember that Floriani thread is color-fast and will withstand bleaching!
Lets Get Started!

|1.||Pre-wash towels if possible. Do not use dryer sheets or fabric softener.|
|2.||Select a design. The design you choose will determine the type of stabilizer we use. For open work designs such as cutwork, lace or redwork styles, you will use Floriani Wet N Gone Tacky as your base. For solid fill designs, wide satin stitching or dense embroidery, you will use Floriani Perfect Stick as your base.|
|3.||Place the stabilizer in the frame with the paper side up. Try to get the stabilizer as taut as possible.|
|4.||Use a straight pin or needle and score the paper by lightly pressing the tip of the pin to the paper. Draw an “X”.|
|5.||Peel back the paper to expose the sticky surface.|
|6.||**Tip! Lay the hoop over your cutting mat and align the centering marks of the hoop over lines showing through the stabilizer. This will help you with centering!|
|7.||Fold the towel in half (right side to right side, vertical) to find your center. Place the fold on the sticky surface.|
|8.||Unfold the towel and stick the other side down and smooth out any wrinkles.|
|9.||Place one piece of Heat N Gone or Water Soluble Topping on the surface of the towel. Secure the corners with clear tape. This will prevent them from curling during the embroidery process.|
|10.||Place the hoop on the machine, center the design and stitch!|
|11.||Once the stitching is complete, remove the hoop from the machine and trim and jump stitches from the front and back.|
|12.||Carefully tear away as much of the topping as possible.|
|13.||If using Floriani Perfect Stick, carefully tear away as much of the stabilizer as possible. If using Floriani Wet N Gone Tacky, trim away as much excess stabilizer as possible.|
|14.||To remove the excess Water Soluble Topping, touch the surface of the towel with a damp cloth. To remove Heat N Gone Topping, touch the surface of the towel with a hot iron (stainless steel iron recommended).|
|15.||The remaining Wet N Gone Tacky stabilizer on the back can be laundered away.|
